Seatrout and Redfish Rule
Report Date: March 3, 2007
March has finally arrived and the Seatrout fishing has been outstanding. Yesterday's charter caught nearly 50 Trout up to 19" in a few hours using ultralight spinning rods and plastic jigs. The day before yielded fewer but larger ones using the same techniques. The Redfish have been large (up to 15 pounds) and cooperative on recent trips and should get much better as Spring progresses. Snook fishing has been slow but should improve greatly during the next few weeks.
By early April, fishing should start to come totally unglued with the arrival of the Spring bait schools. They'll be followed by huge schools of Spanish and King Mackerel, Bonito, Bluefish and Jack Crevalle. Cobia and Sharks of all sizes should follow suite. This action should continue and improve through the Spring.
If you have plans to be in the Tampa Bay area any time this Spring, you owe it to yourself to experience some of the best light tackle fishing to be had anywhere, but book ASAP as this is our busiest season.
Hope to see you soon,
Capt. Tim
