Hot Action Gets Hotter

Report Date: February 28, 2009

February 2009

Lower Tampa Bay/St. Petersburg fishing improved this month with the arrival of Pompano on St. Pete Beach grassflats.

Customers caught 2-3 pounders on recent charters while fishing soft plastic jerk baits for Trout. Trout action has improved some with good numbers of 18''-22'' fish caught on most trips.

Same story with the Sheepies, more and bigger than January.

They love those green mussels, one of my regular customers even caught a Hogfish on one of'em in Pass a grille, pretty cool.

March should get even better with Snook and Redfishing starting to heat up and the arrival of bait with Spanish Mackerel and Bluefish chewin'em up! Oh ya, don't forget the inshore Grouper, occasional Cobia, Flounder, and who knows what else. I wouldn't be surprised to see some early season Tarpon a little later in March. It's time to thaw out with some hot inshore fishin' so come on down!
Thanks for lookin'
